Position Overview:
The Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in the delivery of a range of funded corporate engagement programs. The role will provide support to the Corporate Program Manager and other relevant Earthwatch staff to coordinate effective implementation of these programs (including the HSBC Climate Partnership program).
The Coordinator will administer the recruitment, selection and preparation of corporate employees to join teams at locations such as the Regional Climate Centre in Maryland, to undertake research and learning in the field. The role will help to administer 1-2 day local volunteering projects for corporate employees and liaise with local partner organizations. The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the participation of 125+/-employees per year on Earthwatch expeditions.
The ideal candidate for this position would demonstrate a professional experience, interest in environmental and corporate social responsibility issues, and a willingness to play a crucial role in a dynamic team. Candidates must be detail oriented, able to learn quickly and interested in taking on new roles and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with corporate employees and other stakeholders in a professional manner to help execute corporate programs (e.g. HSBC Climate Partnership) at a consistently high level of excellence.
- Manage logistical details of the Earthwatch corporate programs (including HCP in North America), including: all fellowship preparation processes; creating grant project timelines; customized fellowship application forms; customized fellowship announcements for website; reading of applications and selecting fellow finalists; and generating correspondence to communicate fellowship status to all applicants; work with awarded fellows on their award benefits, project preferences and coordinate the reimbursement of travel stipends.
- Oversee a network of local volunteering projects across North America, liaising with a range of partner organizations
- Help to design, build, and be responsible for the maintenance of systems for collecting and tracking information from fellows on their return.
- Work closely with other Engagement Coordinators and the Corporate Engagement Manager for the Americas to support delivery of other engagement programs as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Program Manager and other relevant Earthwatch staff to promote program marketing and recruitment.
- Generate interim and post-program evaluation reports as deemed appropriate.
- Perform vendor procurement, financial and carbon offset management tracking, and invoicing for fellowship expenditures, namely print collateral, document translation, and travel awards.
- Review volunteer medical forms in timely manner according to Earthwatch risk-management guidelines.
- Internal coordination and collaboration across all Earthwatch departments to fulfill specific HCP deliverables, as designated by the Corporate Program Manager, Regional Program Manager-Americas, and Head of Global Engagement.
- Collaborate with and support colleagues in the Engagement Department to share and implement best practices and ensure consistent quality across the department.
- Participate in HCP events and facilitate Earthwatch educational curriculum (occasionally for 2-weeks plus), as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1 - 3 years of work experience, preferably in a business environment
- Corporate Social Responsibility experience and or knowledge desirable
- Ability to work in a fast paced, collegial environment
- Very strong project management skills and attention to detail; strong data management skills
- Ability to identify problems and to develop creative, timely and efficient solutions
- Exceptional computer skills and a propensity for learning new technology programs: sufficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Power Point and Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and / or Portuguese preferred
- Superb and demonstrated customer service skills
- Self-motivated, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently
- Experience/knowledge of community and environmental issues
- Must be able to travel as needed
Compensation: Salary range: $30,000 - $35,000. Competitive benefits package. Full time, salaried, exempt, grant funded until June 2012.
