Description
The Pisces Foundation, located in San Francisco, CA, and dedicated to improving the environment for present and future generations, has an immediate opening for a program associate to contribute to and support the Foundation's environmental education, water, and energy program areas. The Foundation is in the process of hiring its first professional staff, assessing its grant portfolio, and undertaking a strategic planning process. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and play an important role in a dynamic, growing philanthropy.
Responsibilities:
Grants Planning, Research and Development:
- Undertake grants planning, research and development with respect to existing and potential new areas of focus
- Perform program related research and due diligence, and make recommendations regarding new funding opportunities?
- Prepare research summaries and recommendations?
- Monitor program fields for news and information on funders' initiatives;
Grants Management and Evaluation:?
- Perform site visits to build grantee relationships and evaluate programs/projects?
- Collaborate with grants management staff to ensure grants are monitored and evaluated on time;
Communications Responsibilities:?
- Provide guidance to grantees on grant application procedures and reporting requirements?
- Serve as program liaison for general inquiries, grantees, consultants and other parties.
Operations:
Assist the Executive Director with internal operations, adoption of best practices, and related start-up related structural matters.
Qualifications:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability and desire to help create a thought-leading, world-class philanthropy;
- Strong organizational skills with an excellent attention to detail and commitment to high quality work;
- Self-starter, highly motivated, resourceful and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to represent the Foundation in a professional, courteous and tactful manner;
- Flexibility and sense of humor;
- Interest, comfort, and strength working in a dynamic, "start-up" environment;
- Bachelor's degree; 4-8 years' experience in nonprofit program associate/officer level position or equivalent relevant experience;
- Knowledge about environmental education, water resources, and/or energy and climate policy preferred.
