Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead emerging technology projects provided by American Solar Direct. This individual will research and test new solar technology, liaise and negotiate with vendors, develop cost models and projections for new initiatives, lead and coordinate changes in installation, and assist in new market entries.
The position will be responsible for working cross-functionally with marketing, sales, finance, technology, field operations, legal, to manage product planning, product solution development and product-related customer engagement activities in alignment with the company's corporate strategy and business objectives
Responsibilities:
- Be on the forefront of new solar technology for use in ASD's business model
- Work cross-functionally to manage new product/feature introduction process for projects that impact form/fit/function
- Provide project management services for new technology initiatives
- Serve as lead technical interface between Sales & Marketing and Engineering / Field Operations.
- Provide technical expertise, support and training to Sales and other departments in support of product understanding and development
- Lead product planning collaboration efforts, including market and functional requirements definition, long-range product strategy and road mapping, product specification development, and go-to-market planning
- Manage day-to-day progress of product development initiatives
- Work with Field Operations providing hands-on configuration and testing of technical solutions to prove viability and quality assurance
- Lead and manage the cross-functional team necessary to develop and maintain key product technical collateral and other sales tools (e.g., product requirements, product specification, product documentation kit, product application notes, product warranty, economic value proposition vs. competing alternatives)
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, engineering, or technical field
- 2+ years technical experience in the solar industry
- 3+ years of product management experience, including new product launches and life cycle management
- Demonstrated ability to define and manage a business case and/or plan
- Demonstrated experience defining market / product requirements and implementing product strategy
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills; able to work in and lead cross-functional teams across all levels of an organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills; ability to communicate to stakeholders and executive staff
- Ambitious, energetic and capable of working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
- Proficient in Project Management applications, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
