Position Overview

EnergeiaWorks is currently seeking a President of New Jersey Offshore Wind Transmission.

Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage the high voltage wind transmission from initialization through the execution phase, and to deliver the project in accordance with committed goals.
  • Help create the commercial opportunity for through policy changes involving offshore generation and offshore transmission approaches.
  • The three main elements of this position entail policy formulation and direction, project planning, and project development.
  • Identify areas where adjustments to current policies would better serve the commercialization of the project.
  • Speak in public about the policy positions and the attributes of the project.
  • Work with elected and appointed government officials at the federal, regional, state, and local levels to make the public policy case for transmission project, and oversee rule formulation and/or legislative activity to create the opportunity to compete.
  • Establish professional relationships at every level in the state such that we will have both entrée and a listening audience to discuss the transmission plans for offshore wind.
  • This includes the specific aspects of our proposals and to track and help shape other policy issues that may positively or negatively impact the policies favoring offshore wind transmission.
  • Work closely with mainstream, industry trade and social media to create an effective profile of mission and to advance the core messages and strategy.
  • Work closely with leaders and influential individuals in key New Jersey stakeholder communities to advance the project’s goal of commercialization.
  • Engage with stakeholder organizations, trade groups, and other NGO and business organizations through active membership where warranted to help educate them and where possible to engage their support to advance the benefits provided.
  • Identify all financial, staff and consulting resources that will be necessary to execute the plan, including cost levels and timing for each.
  • Prepare a careful expense budget to execute the plan. Present this budget for initial approval and provide quarterly updates on budget performance.
  • Build up and lead a team to execute the strategy and work plan. Direct transmission system design efforts including route planning, project configuration and technology choice.
  • Obtain and manage site control for offshore and onshore routing and interconnection facilities, including BOEM and FERC approvals.
  • Direct and manage environmental and legal consultants to obtain all federal, state and local permits.
  • Manage and direct legal and engineering consultants for FERC and PJM interconnection filings and processes.
  • Identify and engage in outreach and communications with entities that may be directly impacted by the project including individuals and organizations who might support or oppose the project.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (Masters or above) in planning, public policy, law, engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • 10 or more years of experience in major infrastructure project development including experience in one or more of the following: managing multi-disciplined development teams and budgets.
  • Winning adoption of and implementing energy, environmental and economic public policies (including at the legislative and/or regulatory level).
  • Designing and executing business plans for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Engaging the diverse groups of stakeholders needed to advance the project.
  • A passion for building clean energy infrastructure and the proven ability to work effectively on a talented, hard-charging team to achieve ambitious and challenging goals.
  • Outstanding leadership skills, an ability to work collaboratively, and the capacity to juggle multiple work flows and deadlines.
