Georgia Interfaith Power & Light (GIPL) engages communities of faith in stewardship of God's Creation as a direct reflection of our faithfulness through worship, education and the sustainable generation and efficient use of energy. GIPL is a 6 year old organization with a budgeted staff of 2 full-time and 1 half-time employees.
Position Overview:
GIPL is launching a new program called Power Wise and is hiring a full-time Power Wise Program Director. Congregations in the Power Wise Program will:
- Receive professional energy assessments from experienced auditors
- Be eligible for free project management assistance and matching grants to implement recommended efficiency measures
- Receive ongoing energy data tracking and reporting
- Be invited to home energy audit trainings for their congregants.
The Power Wise Program Director will have to be comfortable with technical issues in building energy efficiency, though he/she will be working in coordination with GIPL's technical partners to deliver energy assessments. The Program Director will need to be able to generate enthusiasm and active participation from member congregations at each step of the Power Wise Program, from initial recruitment to ongoing energy data tracking. An ideal candidate for this position will balance technical knowledge with contagious passion and an ability to "sell" each piece of the Power Wise program to diverse congregations.
Responsibilities:
- Move congregations seamlessly through the Power Wise Program, developing appropriate protocols as necessary.
- Plan, schedule and help deliver energy assessments in coordination with GIPL's technical partners.
- Deliver energy assessment presentations to leadership and operational personnel at diverse congregations.
- Work with GIPL's technical partners to track and report congregations' energy performance.
- Speak in local faith communities, clergy gatherings, Facility Manager gatherings and interfaith groups about the Power Wise Program.
- Develop and enhance, under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Power Wise Program.
- Implement the Power Wise Program, ensuring that the strategies and activities of the program are consistent with the organizational mission.
- Represent GIPL to the public in ways that will encourage congregations to join the Power Wise program using various forms of presentations, such as speeches, slide shows, panel discussions, etc.
- Monitor and update the Power Wise Program website.
- Encourage participating congregations to apply for energy improvement matching grants and to support the continued work of GIPL.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
- Highly organized and highly professional
- At least 3 years experience with energy efficiency
- Knowledge of and passion for environmental issues, particularly energy conservation, global climate change, air and water quality
- Proven communication abilities, including public speaking and written communications
- Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends is necessary
- Knowledge of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, Kintera database system
- Moderate to excellent skill in quantitative analysis with Excel and other software packages
- Experience in sales
Compensation: Salary and Benefits: Low $40's plus health benefits, 3 weeks vacation.
