Description

The Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) is seeking
candidates for a junior analyst position to be filled as soon as possible.
NESCAUM is a nonprofit association of the state air pollution control
agencies in the six New England states, New York and New Jersey. NESCAUM
provides technical assistance and policy guidance to its members on air
pollution issues of regional concern in the Northeast and represents the
states in regional, national and international forums. The activities are
governed by a board of directors composed of the lead air quality officials
in the member states. NESCAUM has a staff of approximately thirty technical,
policy, and administrative personnel managed by an Executive Director.


Duties:


The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks in support
of NESCAUM's work on climate change and promoting clean energy in the
Northeast, including development of state greenhouse gas inventories; data
collection for regional economic modeling; researching technical and policy
issues related to promoting clean energy use; contributing to NESCAUM policy
analyses and reports; and working with state officials to help align and
coordinate state climate change policies.


Qualifications:


A master's degree (preferred) in public policy, environmental policy, or a relevant
scientific field, although candidates with bachelors' degrees will be
considered; strong oral and written communications skills and attention to
detail; ability to work independently; and experience with data collection
and spreadsheets. Familiarity with energy and/or climate change policy, and
government or policy-related work experience, are pluses.

The NESCAUM office is located near North Station in Boston and is easily
accessible via public transportation.
