Position Overview:
GRE is seeking a dynamic and innovative Plant Engineer, Boiler Specialist to provide technical direction and monitoring of plant equipment and systems operation and maintenance for our refuse-derived fuel steam plant.
Responsibilities:
- This position will provide technical direction for the overhaul and repair activities of the boilers and associated equipment with the waste-to-energy plant for projects, typically $100K - $2M in capital cost.
- Prepare work scopes, recommend, justify, design and forecast equipment modifications of new installations and scheduled outages to maximize plant reliability and reduce O&M.
- Recommend alternative designs or materials and specify replacement parts.
- Direct contractors, drafters, technicians and others performing maintenance and construction activities.
- Work with operations staff to review and revise plant operating procedures to safely maximize plant reliability and exceed all environmental requirements.
- Maintain maintenance records of boilers and equipment and coded required documentation; complete emission and other regulatory reports.
- Evaluate testing requirements, prepare test procedures and conduct tests to evaluate boiler condition and performance.
Qualifications:
- The qualified candidate will possess a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field and power plant operations, biomass, solid fuel or waste-to-energy experience.
- Experience in steam generator design, testing and operation and strong understanding of boiler thermal performance design and evaluation methods required.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated solid project management skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities and effective collaboration aptitude.
