Climate Lab is a non-profit beginning operation in October, 2008, whose mission is to accelerate solutions to global climate change by organizing information that fosters collaboration and action. 

Climate Lab will develop a participatory website - ClimateLab.org - that allows individuals, companies, and policymakers to contribute to and access a comprehensive source of information and funding opportunities related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.  Initially, the website will combine an informational wiki with an "idea market" of project proposals and grant opportunities. As the user community grows, the Climate Lab will continue to leverage new internet technologies that empower concerned individuals and organizations to take meaningful action.

Position Overview:

Climate Lab seeks an Outreach Director to build strategic partnerships with NGOs, technology firms, and academics working in the clean energy and climate change communities.   The ideal candidate will have experience working on climate change-related issues, particularly in advocacy, and combine excellent person-to-person communication skills with an interest in collaborative Internet technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with NGOs, clean energy technology companies, and academic institutions
  • Collaborating with Climate Lab Board and other senior staff members to set direction for the organization
  • Recruiting Climate Lab users
  • Managing strategic communications campaigns, especially email outreach and online advertising
  • Managing a small team of outreach interns

 Qualifications:

  • 3 years working in climate change advocacy
  • Demonstrated experience building working coalitions of NGOs
  • Experience managing online communications campaigns in political or non-profit environment, including email outreach and online advertising
  • Experience managing interns
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and on deadline
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Experience working for progressive non-profits or political campaigns, especially in advocacy or communications

Start Date:  October (flexible)
