Description
Evergreen is an environmental organization whose mission is to bring communities and nature together through naturalization projects.
Based in Vancouver, Evergreen is seeking a highly organized individual with an interest in event coordination, marketing and administration to act as Outreach and Administration Coordinator.
Duties:
The Outreach and Administration Coordinator will coordinate Evergreens hallmark special event - Earth Day Vancouver Celebration 2004 - help educate the public about Evergreens programs, promote our services and resource collection and assist with general administration duties.
- Help to plan the implementation of the event
- Manage the coordination and implementation of all of the event elements including the event steering committee
- Liaise with event partners and sponsors throughout the event planning and execution process
- Implement a detailed promotions plan to ensure that the event is well communicated and attended
- Prepare a final report
Marketing Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of promotion and distribution strategies for Evergreen services and resources;
- Coordinate the recruitment, orientation and recognition of Evergreens Earth Day volunteers;
- Represent Evergreen and conduct presentations on Evergreen programs at local events.
Administration Responsibilities
- Act as the first contact / point person for incoming calls and emails; respond to inquiries
- Provide fundraising administrative support to the Regional Director for duties such as typing, filing, photocopying, data entry and scheduling of meetings.
- Conduct prospect research, using on-line and hard copy sources, on prospective donors (foundations, governments, corporations, and individuals) and assist in the preparation of funding proposals, presentations and information packages
- Providing office coordination support such as managing the telephone system filing, copying, data entry, maintaining internal notice boards, coordinating staff meetings, and organizing faxes and mail.
- Compose and produce gift acknowledgment and donor appreciation correspondence.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of post-secondary education with 1-3 years of work experience in public relations, marketing and/or fundraising, and familiarity with the charitable sector.
- Solid event coordination and planning experience
- Interest and/or experience in the environmental field;
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and demonstrated professionalism, judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
- Strong organizational skills, demonstrated attention to details, and the ability to prioritize and juggle competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Computer skills - Word, Excel, Email, Internet A second language would be an asset.
