Description

~ Xodus is a leading global energy consultancy. Our experts help clients overcome challenges, and maximise return on investment, responsibly. ~

We will deliver a responsible energy future by attracting and nurturing diverse, high-calibre personnel, deploying their capabilities in an integrated, innovative and intelligent way, and by being a true partner for our clients to achieve their global business goals together.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new and rapidly growing Renewables Division. Our brand of consultancy has proved extremely successful; over the last 12 months, we have grown the division from zero to 25 consultants in the UK. This division, capturing integrated renewables advisory services, builds upon the strength and depth of our environment and subsea engineering divisions who have been working in offshore renewables for 15 years.

Together we will deliver a responsible energy future!

Job Specification Overview

For this Offshore Wind Permitting Manager position, we are looking for an experienced individual with proven track record in the US offshore wind industry, specifically in relation to the regulatory approvals process, environmental permitting issues and project development. A history of experience in engagement with federal, state and local agencies (i.e. BOEM) and an understanding of the Construction and Operation Plan (COP) process would be desirable. Management of other stakeholders, such as commercial fishing, would also be advantageous.

You will sit within the Renewables Division but work with engineers and environmental practitioners from across the Xodus business (globally) to deliver integrated project solutions.

Specifically, this job specification relates to a role in the US. Xodus has a US legal entity and will be establishing a presence of engineering and advisory specialists in Boston during Q3 2020. The opportunity offered by the US offshore wind market is significant and has every potential to become a major exporter of offshore wind capability to the rest of the world. The US branch of the Xodus Renewables offering will therefore be designed to service the Americas region as well as become a centre of excellence in its own right which provides consultancy services across the globe. This centre of excellence model is working well, with the UK centre being internationally recognised for its expertise in supply chain and floating wind (for example).

Ultimately, we bring talented, motivated, people together who all understand how energy solutions can be technically, economically, ethically and environmentally sustainable.

Renewables in Xodus is both a business sector and a division: The division spearheads our overall business activities, establishes project opportunities and provides advisory and strategic consultancy. The business sector is also served by the other discipline-led divisions in Xodus covering environment, Subsea engineering, Structural Engineering, Vibration and Integrity. As a truly integrated consultancy we bring together the right skills to work with and solve our clients’ challenges. Within Renewables we work across the spectrum of renewable energy generation (offshore and onshore wind, marine hydro-kinetic and solar), energy transmission and ‘edge of grid’ energy systems (including battery storage and hydrogen).

Note: We believe in a culture where people feel empowered and as such have a very flat structure. The role will report to the Boston Director of Operations who in turn reports to the Renewables Division Manager based in the UK; ensuring from the outset that we bring UK and US experience together.

  • As part of the Renewables leadership team to shape and grow the business in terms of technical strength, commercial performance and brand awareness both locally in the US and across all our locations
