Position Overview

The Offshore Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivering EDF Renewables offshore projects or packages safely, on time, to budget and to required specifications and quality standards. 

The Offshore Senior Project Manager is responsible for:

  • Evaluation, comparison, and selection of technologies, project designs, installation methods, and O&M strategies to develop a technical and delivery strategy for the projects;
  • Supporting the development team with definition of different project design approaches;
  • Supporting the team with supplier qualification and selection, cost definition and local content evaluation resulting in successful bids;
  • Ensuring HSSE is proactively managed;
  • Identifying risks and mitigations and actively managing risks within the package and across interfaces; and
  • Understanding the interaction between development, permitting, commercial, engineering, and delivery.

Responsibilities

Design and Selection:

  • Responsible for the coordination of the technical assessment of supplier offerings in cooperation with the Technical Manager;
  • Support the Supplier Selection processes, and contract evaluation supported by Procurement and Legal teams;
  • Management of the Employer’s conceptual and function designs, technical specifications and scope of work;
  • Coordination the development of design basis and ensure ability to obtain certification of the components.

Implementation Management:

  • Scope Management: Collect requirements, define scope and define work-breakdown-structure for the project/package;
  • Time Management: Manage overall project/package time schedule, including key milestones. Detailed planning of activities and develop schedule. Continuously ensure that project/package is progressing in accordance with schedule;
  • Cost Management: Document CAPEX and OPEX budget for project/package. Continuous control of the budget;
  • Risk Management: Help ensure HAZID/HAZOP and risk assessments are carried out to identify risk and mitigation actions are plan accordingly;
  • Procurement: Support preparation & evaluate of RFIs, tenders, contract negotiations/signing, etc., in cooperation with the Procurement Team;
  • HSSE: Work with HSE Manager, employees and contractors to perform work within safety management plan, proactively contribute to updating the safety management plan as required;
  • Quality management: Support the development of the quality management plan. Ensure that both team members and contractors comply with the QM-plan and ensure that specifications are met both on products and processes. Collect lessons learnt and ensure implementation of department best practices and company standards. Review of key-deliveries from package groups. Ensure that expert knowledge and peer reviews are used to the extent necessary. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards for project execution; and
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture or Construction Science required.  Master’s Degree or other advanced degree (JD) desired;
  • PMP Certification strongly preferred;
  • Recommended 10 years of relevant work experience within on- or off-shore wind energy; and
  • Relevant Offshore/Marine experience strongly preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of cost control philosophy and methodologies, estimating, change management, and document controls procedures required;
  • Extensive experience with budgets/scheduling and risk evaluation and statistical modeling a plus;
  • Experience with Scope and Work Project Development and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS);
  • Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication skills required;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple people from all types of fields of expertise;
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural context;
  • High energy, self-motivated, client focused individual;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Creative and innovative.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel every month to different locations nationally and internationally for 3-5 days at a time.

Working Conditions

  • 85% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment.
  • Approximately 15% of the time is spent visiting suppliers and project stakeholders, attending conferences, assessing potential and existing project sites.
