ERO Resources Corporation, an environmental consulting firm headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is seeking a full-time NEPA assistant for its Denver, Colorado office.

ERO Resources Corporation is a team of natural resource and environmental consultants with diverse backgrounds and a shared interest in environmental issues. ERO has offices in Denver, Durango, and the Western Slope of Colorado, and in Boise, Idaho in order to maintain close working relationships with our clients. We listen closely to our clients' needs and expectations, and develop solutions for accomplishing project goals within an environmental framework.

Position Overview:

The position will support the Project Manager of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a large hard rock mine.  Primary duties will include scheduling and documenting meetings and conference calls, tracking and coordinating completion and reviews of EIS sections and technical documents, assembling and distributing final reports and EIS documents, tracking notifications and deliverables, and communicating necessary information to all parties involved on the project. 

Professionalism, integrity, dedication to successfully completing project tasks, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are of the utmost importance, as the position requires regular contact with clients, sub consultants, EIS resource team members, and regulators. 

Responsibilities:

  • Track status of project tasks and deliverables using Excel and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Coordinate the preparation of EIS sections, internal and agency reviews, and team responses for internal and agency comments.
  • Assist with preparing technical reports, EIS sections, and responses to agency comments on draft documents.
  • Coordinate agency and team conference calls and meetings, and prepare supporting materials and notes.
  • Assist with preparing materials for Public Meetings.
  • Assist with creating a comment database to process Draft EIS comments and coordinate comment responses.
  • Manage and file correspondence (i.e. letters, memos, faxes, emails, etc.) and maintain the project record.
  • Document public and agency consultations including, but not limited to: Public Notifications; Public Consultations; Agency, Tribal, and SHPO Consultations.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by being familiar with task order scopes of work, guidelines, and preferences so as to be able to provide timely responses and proactive solutions to client needs.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, geology, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental sciences or a related field.
  • 3 + years prior experience with NEPA documents and other environmental studies.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth and other mapping applications.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Clear and effective communication; phone calls to clients and project contacts will be an integral part of the job duties.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.

Desired experience:

  • Understanding of federal, state and/or local environmental requirements.
  • An advanced degree or training may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience.
  • The successful candidate must be detail-oriented; have strong oral and written communication skills; have the ability to work simultaneously on, and prioritize, multiple projects; and have the ability to work both as a member of an interdisciplinary team and independently with minimal supervision. Approximately 10 percent out-of-state travel for the project is anticipated.
