Description
WorldTeach is looking for 3-4 volunteers to teach natural history, environmental interpretation, and english to future nature guides in the Rio Platano Biosphere Reserve in Honduras. This program begins in March 2004 and will last for nine months.
Duties:
- Volunteers will be responsible for planning and teaching a wide variety of lessons, including some natural history, some environmental studies, and English.
- The first 5-6 months of the training will be conducted in Spanish, with intensive English instruction occurring during the final 2 months of the program.
- Volunteers will also spend periods of time in host communities along the northern coast of Honduras, where they will help the new nature guides implement environmental and ecotourism projects.
- The Program Director and the Assistant Program Director will help volunteers write, plan, and teach lessons.
Terms:
Living conditions within the Reserve are rustic; electricity and running water will not be available at all teaching sites.
Qualifications:
- Successful volunteers will be mature, confident, and have a passion for environmental education.
- Fluency in English, proficiency in Spanish.
