Conditions: Candidates must have been registered as full-time students in a post-secondary institution in the previous academic year, and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the Fall.

The Canadian Environmental Network (CEN) is a non-advocacy network charged with coordinating Environmental Non-Governmental Organization (ENGO) participation in the development of environmental policy. Some issues of current interest include: Mining, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Forest, Water, Health and Agriculture. This is an excellent opportunity for the student to learn about environmental policy and the inner-workings of the environmental movement. Duties:


The CEN Caucus Unit provides the structure with which environmental groups network and develop positions on the important environmental issues of today. The National Caucus Coordinator Assistant will be responsible for assisting the National Caucus Coordinators for Caucus web page maintenance, caucus membership maintenance and assisting with delegate selections process, which includes:

  • Send calls to seek ENGO representatives to participate in Canadian national and international consultations, programs or official delegations;
  • Assist the Caucus Coordinators in overseeing the process of selection of the ENGO representative;
  • Ensure that the result of the selection is announced in the CEN weekly bulletin and on the relevant CEN web pages;
  • Ensure that the ENGO representatives send their consultation report and that the report is translated and made available;
  • Review and maintenance of caucus membership list and CEN database;
  • Media clippings review and distribution;
  • Preparation and planning for caucus participation at the CEN Annual Conference on the Environment;
  • Assist National Caucus Coordinator in other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Computer skills (ideally Access software)
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work independently
