Position Overview:
We are actively seeking the right candidate to join our team as a part-time Marketing and Communications Intern with an emphasis in Written Communication at our office and showroom in Chicago. We offer a friendly and supportive working environment in which you will be challenged, valued, and encouraged to grow with our company.
Responsibilities:
- Becoming familiar with the Distant Village and a whole and the voice of the company
- Developing clear and concise content on given topics for blogs and other web and marketing materials
- Work with designers to create e-blasts and newsletter campaigns
- Web 2.0 Guerilla Marketing, including online postings, blogging, etc.
- Research other blogs with similar topics and comment on posts
- Write Press Releases for Web and Traditional Press, TV, and Radio
- Increase website traffic and update company blog
Qualifications:

Highly Effective and Proven Writing Skills
- Advanced Experience with Web 2.0 Technology (e.g., Blogging, LinkedIn, Google Analytics, Twitter, etc.)
- Ability to produce written content quickly
- Experienced with Sustainable Online Communities (e.g., Treehugger.com, Idealist.com, Green America, etc)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- SEO experience and knowledge
- Resourceful and Quick Learner
- Passionate about Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Compensation:
- Academic Credit (For Fall 2010) depending on availability
- Professional Development and Experience in Professional Blog and Marketing Content Writing

Compensation: Internship hours are flexible although minimum of 16 hours per week commitment is preferred. This internship is unpaid.
