Description
CLF Ventures (CLFV) is the non-profit consulting arm of the Conservation Law Foundation. Established in 1997, CLFV works with private and public sector clients to promote both sustainability and economic success. Our consulting services support the implementation of projects that have demonstrable environmental benefit and generate revenues for the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF).
The Conservation Law Foundation is the oldest and largest regional environmental advocacy organization in the United States. Based in New England, CLF's attorneys, scientists, economists, and policy experts develop and implement strategies that conserve natural resources, protect public health, and promote vital communities. CLFV is separately incorporated as a "support organization" to CLF, with its own Board of Directors, several of whom also serve on the CLF Board. .
Over the past ten years, CLF Ventures has proved that it is possible to achieve significant environmental protection via fee-for-service, client-based relationships. By leveraging our technical, regulatory and outreach expertise, CLFV aligns stakeholder interests and reduces project uncertainty to solve our clients' complex environmental problems.
To date, CLFV initiatives have included the siting of a large wind project, the cleanup and productive reuse of contaminated brownfields sites; developing and implementing environmental site closure plans at decommissioned nuclear facilities; the creation of an environmental automobile insurance agency; working with a global minerals processing company to help solve a "tailings" controversy incorporating sound scientific analysis and multi-stakeholder engagement, and the siting of a super-clean and efficient electric power plant to help replace the region's older, dirtier generating facilities.
