Position Overview: 

The U.S. Green Building Council seeks a LEED Operations and Maintenance Manager that will be an integral member of the LEED Department and will provide management and programmatic support for the LEED rating system and related initiatives. The job tasks will center on improvement and outreach related to LEED and its supporting tools, specifically focused on building performance.

The LEED Operations and Maintenance Manager will also serve as a project manager and team member to a diverse set of projects across the LEED department; projects are largely related to the existing building operations, maintenance and performance aspects of the LEED rating system within the Commercial Real Estate sector.

Responsibilities:

LEED Volume Program:

The LEED Volume Program is a certification process that allows qualified participants to leverage technical uniformity in their building design, construction and operational practices, and managerial uniformity within their organization, in order to forgo the need for a full review of every LEED project. The LEED Manager will:

  • Manage accounts for volume pilot clients
  • Provide review support for pilot project submissions
  • Perform QA/QC for Volume EB:O&M prototype precertification reviews and volume project audits

Existing Building Operations & Maintenance Subject Matter Expert:

Serve as in-house subject matter expert to aide in the development of new building performance programs and improvement of existing programs such as:

  • Building Performance Partnership (BPP) & Recertification
    • Work closely with the Project Manager of BPP and Recertification to maintain consistency in the performance monitoring and benchmarking requirements of the programs
    • Liaise with volunteers as needed to gather feedback on the direction and specifics of the program
  • Application Guide for Multiple Buildings & Campuses
    • Serve as subject matter expert for the existing building operations, maintenance portion of the project
  • Work on development of performance tracking and benchmarking tools, including use of web-based tools and information technology through third-party vendors
  • Provide guidance on programs with operations & maintenance related needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related building industry, policy or environmental discipline; Master's degree preferred
  • Technical understanding of and experience achieving compliance with the commercial rating systems, specifically LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance
  • LEED Accredited Professional status
  • General understanding of high performance green building/community design, construction and operations, specifically the LEED commercial rating systems including New Construction, Core and Shell, and Commercial Interiors
  • Knowledge of and experience working with LEED projects, through documenting compliance through LEED Online or as project LEED AP for at least 20 LEED projects, preferably LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance
  • Experience in all LEED project phases, from early visioning to completion of LEED certification
