Overview

The AD / Manager Environment and Sustainability Management position holder has local/regional end to end accountability to achieve BI’s global environmental and sustainability targets and ensures compliance with worldwide Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) legislations/regulations and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting obligations and disclosures. In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the solution of complex conceptual issues within the local/regional EHS department, the Global Environment and Sustainability Management unit and the Global MORE GREEN Pillar/Program, and supports the solving of complex conceptual issues within the Corporate Sustainable Development – For Generations (SD4G) framework and other organizational units.
  • Solve complex problems with a flexible and innovative approach to achieve innovative solutions. The problems are broad in scope, conceptual in nature, across business lines, and across organizational units.
  • Be accountable for technical expertise, which includes conception, planning and/or processing of extensive cross organizational EHS&S and ESG topics and sub-projects and is advising others on EHS&S requirements and ESG reporting obligations.
  • Lead local/regional cross-functional expert teams and acts as the main focal point for sustainable and affordable solutions worldwide.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for workpackages which contribute to the concept for the strategic directions, implementation and operational execution of a local/regional EHS&S and/or ESG capability.
  • Leads dotted-line and cross-functional network of professional staff to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational issues of medium to very high complexity, adapting priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Directs the resolution of unusual business issues under this capability and apply advanced analytical thought and judgment; while providing governance for international topic remediation.
  • Applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive results and operational performance across large areas or sub-functions (i.e. a subset of a function, typically consisting of several areas with independent budgets).
  • Accountable for numerous, cross-discipline projects and programs and is the responsible for the performance and results of the teams.
  • Interprets  EHS&S and ESG legislation/regulations and setting cross functional (AH,HP,Bio,RD) standards in order to optimize cost of compliance, ensuring product supply and avoidance of regulatory actions.
  • Implement innovative approaches in solving EHS&S and ESG issues. Digitalizing of EHS&S capability and developing existing software applications and deploying to BI sites. Be first contact for internal teams and  external organizations and network for all EHS&S and ESG projects related to its capability. 

Requirements

AD, Environment and Sustainability Management

  • More than 5 years industrial experience in EHS&S, ESG and/or in operations  
  • 2 to 3 year of leadership experience in a very complex global environment(direct and/or functional reporting lines)
  • Recognized as an external thought leader within a strategic function or discipline
  • Requires extensive job experience (approximately 7-10 years' as a guide) to acquire the necessary understanding of the range of processes, procedures and systems alongside good knowledge of the underlying concepts & principles upon which the job is based. The skills and knowledge level are equivalent to a specialized level within a skilled trade, but are generally non-theoretical skills.
  • Proven capabilities in leading of local/regional matrix organizations
  • Strategic, conceptual and agile thinking with proven capabilities in strategic and conceptual work
  • Enriches technical expertise with profound knowledge of the market, competition and/or academic environment in the area of specialization
  • Project Management skills
  • Strategic entrepreneurial thinking and acting, self-organization, communication skills, intercultural competence, business and scientific as well as technical competence
  • Ability to successfully drive compliance initiatives and programs, persistence, accountability, teamwork, good inter-personal sensitivity, perseverance

Manager, Environment and Sustainability Management

  • More than 2 years industrial experience in EHS&S, ESG and/or in operations  
  • Leadership experience in a very complex global environment(direct and/or functional reporting lines)
  • Requires extensive job experience (approximately 5-7 years' as a guide) to acquire the necessary understanding of the range of processes, procedures and systems alongside good knowledge of the underlying concepts & principles upon which the job is based. The skills and knowledge level are equivalent to a specialized level within a skilled trade, but are generally non-theoretical skills.
  • Proven capabilities in leading of local/regional matrix organizations
