The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 10,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to provide high-quality support to the LEED for Homes program. The LEED for Homes Program Assistant will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to the LEED Homes volunteer committee, working groups and staff leading the development and implementation of the LEED for Homes green building standards. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:  

  • Answer non-technical phone and email inquiries from the public and professionals related to LEED for Homes. 
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support for the LEED for Homes Committee and LEED For Homes Provider network (including scheduling and logistics for committee conference calls and meetings) 
  • Prepare and distribute committee documents, minutes and correspondence 
  • Manage and maintain committee listservs, Web sites, document archives and calendars 
  • Process builder registrations and project certifications and manage databases on registered builders, and registered and certified projects 
  • Answer basic builder inquiries regarding participation 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Related Organizational Goals and Objectives:  

  • Encourage and accelerate global adoption of green building practices through LEED standards, tools, and performance criteria
  • Provide timely and efficient support for the LEED for Homes team and the LEED for Homes Providers
  • Deliver customer support that is professional, timely and targeted to the customer's needs

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Bachelors degree in a related building industry or environmental discipline preferred
  • Strong skills in customer service, writing, organization, and computers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work efficiently and multitask
  • 1-2 years relevant professional office experience
  • Team player with outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Very strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve diverse issues
  • Knowledge in / willingness to learn about the unique aspects of residential green building
  • Commitment to the USGBC mission.
