Description

Above Green works with owners, architects, facilities managers, and general contractors to fulfill the documentation requirements for the LEED Certification of new construction, commercial interiors, and existing building projects. We provide cost effective support to project teams that do not have the time or personnel to internally complete these requirements.

As LEED continues to expand into the built environment, we see our services as practically valuable and instrumental to the development of the green building market. Since 2007, we have provided LEED support to clients in almost every industry. Our end-use clients include every branch of the U.S. military, educational institutions, banks, non-profits, hotels, retailers, and for-profit companies. We have worked on a range of project types: from 10,000 SF headquarters and operations facilities for the military to 100,000 SF office buildings. Our clients rely on us for rapid responses to their questions, and accurate documentation of how their practices comply with LEED requirements.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an intern to join our Construction Administration team and support our clients within the New Construction and Commercial Interior project categories. This intern will be a team member and must be attentive to detail, professional, communicative, and results-oriented. He or she must be able to take the initiative, follow-through, and have an interest in working in an administrative capacity on a variety of types of green building projects.

Responsibilities:

As a intern for the construction administrator, you will:

  • Review submittals for compliance with construction phase LEED requirements in the Materials and Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality categories. This includes helping contractors track their progress with their goals for recycled content, regional materials, certified wood, and low-emitting materials.
    o Respond to submittals with requests for additional information, if necessary
    o Input submittal information into spreadsheets
    o Use spreadsheets to complete credits in LEED Online
  • Monitor contractor goals for Construction Waste Management and Indoor Air Quality
    o Collect waste receipts and maintain spreadsheets that identify diversion rates
    o Request photographs detailing implementation of Indoor Air Quality practices
  • Input data into LEED Online
  • Attend construction meetings (by phone or in person) and provide guidance to team members about the current status of compliance with construction phase requirements

Qualifications:

  • A degree in business management or environmental science.
  • Knowledge of the LEED rating systems
    o LEED Accredited Professional designation a plus or intrest in obtaining designation
    o LEED project experience a plus
  • Experience with management of green building projects, including:
    o An understanding of what qualifies products as green materials
    o Ability to communicate with contractors about green project requirements
    o An ability to conduct (online) research about green materials and products
  • Expert user of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
  • A knack for finding gaps in data, and solutions to those gaps

Compensation: This is a paid intership. Position reports to Director of LEED Construction Administration
