Position Summary

The Lease Portfolio Manager is responsible for effectively managing Avangrid Renewables’ portfolio of onshore wind, solar, storage and thermal assets in development, construction and operations for an assigned region. The Lease Portfolio Manager will report to the Manager, Lease Portfolio Services within the Land Management department.

Position Description:

Lease Portfolio Managers work closely with a wide range of internal departments that perform the day-to-day lease management activities for a regional portfolio of development, construction, and operations leases. Lease Portfolio Managers interface heavily with internal stakeholders such as developers, asset managers, permitting managers, attorneys, and others within Land Management. Lease Portfolio Managers also engage with external stakeholders, including serving as the main point of contact for landowners and agents, state/federal agencies, and third-party legal counterparts pertaining to Avangrid’s leasehold interests. The Lease Portfolio Manager’s role is critical in ensuring that lease records are complete and accurate, all lease milestones are being met, and streamlined communication with internal and external stakeholders. A typical Lease Portfolio Manager will have responsibility over 30-60 renewable assets depending on the assets’ size &/or complexity, or regions.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder management and/or support, including being a point of contact for landowner communication, developers, asset managers, permit managers, legal, lease analysts, land managers, etc. for a specified region.
  • Closely monitor and manage date and event-based milestones under the leases and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Land Lease Disbursements team to ensure complete and accurate information in the SAP-RE system and accurate and timely payments
  • Provide timely and regular written communications with landowners and internal stakeholders, including letters, statements, notices, etc.
  • Monitor trends and evaluate risk pertaining to long-term contractual obligations and escalate concerns, as appropriate.
  • Communicate areas of risk in a clear and concise manner to senior management and various other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage issues and transactions, including the review and challenge of lease terms and amendments, landowner issue resolution, and landowner negotiation.
  • Support litigation activity and provide lease reconciliation and financial analysis, as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with lease analysts on proper entry and updating of lease records.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute information and support various activities related to assets in operation, including new commercial transactions, departmental improvement initiatives, merger and acquisition activity, legal issues, or significant IFRS/SOX lease requirement changes.
  • Support business process improvement projects to further support and enable efficiency gains throughout the scope of responsibilities & tasks of Land Management.
  • Support tax equity and merger and acquisition activity by participating in real estate due diligence efforts, including preparing detailed lease reviews and providing lease payment history
  • Represent Lease Administration for various cross-functional strategic initiatives, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in any of the following areas or in other similar and applicable areas: lease administration, real estate document management, real estate portfolio management, and customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project management skills coupled with organization, flexibility, and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to review and analyze lease financial and legal data.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), including data analytics processes such as creating pivot tables and effectively organizing large volumes of complex data.
