Position Overview:

Testing and Supporting Solar Concentrator Stirling Program:

  • System architecture design.
  • Requirements analysis and review.
  • System defect troubleshooting of C and Assembly programming of embedded microprocessors.
  • Applications test specification and test execution.
  • Troubleshooting legacy systems.
  • Supporting In-house Testing Efforts
  • Creation of test repository using commercial software.
  • Participation in all phases of system development from concept to shipment.
  • Writing, maintaining and extending software and system test plans.
  • Devise an approach to automated regression testing of embedded software.
  • Instrumentation technical support (software, sensors and electrical noise management) for both bench testing and system field-testing.
  • Assist in administering 3rd party certification (UL, CE, etc) witnessed testing, where applicable. 
  • Supporting Outsourced Development of Software for New Products
  • Reviewing third party designs.
  • Creating specifications and technical guidance documents.
  • Conducting tests to confirm design approaches and system behavior.
  • Providing project and vendor management with respect to software QA

Reporting Relationship:

Assigned project leads as specified by the Director of Electronics and Software 

Qualifications:

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge: 

Required:

  • General skills in software test planning and execution.
  • Ability to create and execute the full spectrum of software system QA:  new feature, regression, automation, patch level, planning and tactical execution
  • Project management and planning experience.
  • Technical writing experience for manuals and reports.
  • BSCS or BSEE with 8+ years experience preferred or comparable hands-on experience.
  • Must have initiative.  Will work independently.  Must possess a strong desire to learn.
  • Must be familiar with the design process and specifications leading to testing plans and procedures. 

Desired:

  • Experience in Analog and digital hardware design and troubleshooting experience. 
  • General embedded software testing experience preferred in C and Assembly language.
  • LabView experience a plus, for data acquisition and automated test equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret customer or internal specification documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

Education/Experience:

Required:

  • Authorization to work in U.S.A.
  • BSCS or BSEE with 8+ years experience preferred or comparable hands-on experience.

Desired:

  • BSCS or BSEE with 12+ years experience preferred or comparable hands-on experience.
