Position Overview

We are now looking for a Lead Electrician (Foreman). This position is for our San Diego location. The objective of this role is to lead our crews of electricians for our solar installations, communicating with the Project Managers and our customers at all times to ensure quality and satisfaction standards are exceeded. Our foremen also participate in the installation process, teaching our crews by example.

Responsibilities

  • Install solar panel systems within scheduled time frame and according to prepared design
  • Use knowledge of electrical construction, roofing construction, general construction and NEC codes
  • Communicate to Superintendent and Manager potential problems encountered during construction that would affect schedule
  • Manage on-site crew and tools used by crew
  • Provide leadership and direction on the PV installation process
  • Heavy physical effort – lifting and moving
  • Use good judgment
  • Should be willing to work 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (varies depending on scheduling)
  • Finish projects on time and under allotted hours
  • Able to work in all-weather conditions
  • Able to keep a team highly motivated to finish any task at hand

Requirements

Desired qualifications:

  • 3+ years solar experience
  • 3+ years electrical experience
  • Good understanding of solar design and string configuration
  • Experience managing and leading teams
  • Experience as a foreman preferred
  • Must be a member of or willing to join the IBEW union upon employment
  • Must be working toward obtaining a union journeyman certification
  • Have a great understanding and knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Ability to read, understand, and to build off an approved set of plans
  • Assist other Sullivan employees as needed

Physical demands and working environment

  • The job may require the employee’s ability to do the following:
  • Ability to work four days a week, 10 hours per day (varies depending on scheduling)
  • Lift 50 lbs. from ground and pull 50 lbs. of force
  • Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit pulling
  • Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt
  • Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires
  • Work off of ladders, man lifts or reach booms

Working Environment:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to:
  • A variety of weather conditions including cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.
  • High noise levels

While performing duties of this job, the employee must:

  • Be able to work on roofs and ladders
  • Be able to work outdoors and in the sun
  • Have reliable transportation as job sites change week to week
