Description
Dynamic landscape urbanism and green roof design-build firm in Brooklyn with a diverse portfolio and a commitment to sustainable practices is seeking a junior landscape designer who is passionate, hard-working and highly skilled.
At the forefront of a national design movement focusing on establishing place and identity through ecological design, Future Green Studio's work focuses on reclaiming post-industrial landscapes, on planning future visions for cities, and on greening New York City's rooftops. We are a unique company, engaging in both speculative, urban, large scale conceptual landscape urbanism as well as small scale garden and art interventions. We design and we build. We are thinkers, designers, teachers, gardeners and craftsmen.
Position Overview:
Must have MLA from a program with a strong design curriculum and a minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience. Must be able to excel at all aspects of the practice - ranging from concept design to technical documentation, as well as project management and construction administration.
Responsibilities:
- Helping to develop conceptual design options
- Helping to source materials and plants
- Implementing sketches into CAD / Rhino
- Rendering and layout presentation graphics
- Project management responsibilities on small garden projects
- Assisting in production of construction documents
- Researching on sustainable landscape practices for forthcoming book
Qualifications:
- Dependable, hard-working, passionate, self-directed
- Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Strong presentation skills in computer graphic communication is critical (fast freehand plan, section and vignette sketching a plus)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino
