Internship opportunity in Maryland, DC and Virginia Solar Energy Industries Association for this 2010 legislative session. Meet the local solar energy industry in the following 3 months. Major national companies like BP Solar, groSolar, Standard Solar and Sun Edison are located in this area and you will get to know their leaders.
Position Overview:
Position will include: working with Executive Director and local solar industry leaders, members the Board of Directors to promote association's legislative agenda.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Director to organize legislative strategies with the Legislative committee director for Maryland and Virginia legislative sessions
- Help to prepare and organize testimony on bills for appropriate committees
- Produce weekly reports to membership on progress of specific legislative proposals we are tracking.
- Schedule and attend meetings with legislators and staff for board members
- Operate user friendly website for publication of testimony
- Work to help plan and organize the MD Clean Energy Day
- Meet various members of the states general assembly.
Qualifications:
Individual must be detail-oriented with strong written skills and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. College junior, senior or grad student with excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated initiative; knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Windows; preference given to those with political, public relations, marketing and advertising experience. We will require 3 days per week at minimum of 4 hours per day.
Compensation: Some modest compensation may be available and travel costs will be reimbursed
