Position Overview: 

A fast growing solar integrator and energy-consulting firm based in Orange County, CA is looking for a part-time or full-time intern to assist them with their day-to-day business.

The intern will have the opportunity to get involved with solar energy design and installation components as well as the entire rebate and permit processes. This will enable the intern to learn the solar and energy consulting businesses first hand and effectively design and market a solar power system to small to large commercial, government and non-profit clientele.

Minimum internship duration is 3 months. This position can lead to a full-time consulting job with the employer.

Responsibilities: 

The intern will work on the following:

1. Market research on:

  • Large commercial projects (Project details, financing)
  • ESCo (Energy Services Companies)
  • Current energy market dynamics and future trends
  • Solar materials/supplier network

2. Daily administrative and project management assistance as needed for solar system design and rebate  & permit paperwork

3. Prospecting new leads as well as consultants, such as Structural Engineers, other Engineering firms, installation teams, etc.

4. Assistance with energy audits such as data collection and analysis

5. Administrative and analysis assistance with LEED certification of clients’ buildings

Qualifications:

  1. Studying or studied Construction Management, Environmental Studies, Business Administration or Marketing
  2. Strong interest in solar energy and sustainable building practices such as LEED
  3. Can work on site or remotely (especially for research assignments)
  4. Can dedicate at least 20 hours per week
  5. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  6. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
