The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)-Northern California Chapter (NCC) is one of 70 chapters of the U.S. Green Building Council. NCC's area covers the Sacramento area, through the San Francisco Bay Area, on down through Monterey Bay. The Chapter has about 1000 members, and is growing at a rate of about 70 members per month.
The Chapter is a 501C3 public charity, incorporated in the State of California and was founded in 2001. The Chapter has been riding the "green tsunami" and hired an Executive Director, an Operations Director, and a Program Coordinator over the last year and a half. See our website for more information.
NCC is developing a strategic plan which aims to position the Chapter as the "go to" place for green building in northern California, to drive innovation and research on the efficacy and importance of green building, and to grow the green building community and the organization dramatically over the next several years. We aspire to become a leading chapter of USGBC nationally.
Position Overview:
NCC seeks a bright, high-energy, flexible, dynamic person who has a high level of competence in computer and Internet technology.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to the Operations Director and the Program Coordinator including:
- Updating and enhancing the NCC website.
- Assisting in Chapter events coordination including monthly meetings, special training programs and workshops, and fund raising events.
- Provide general logistical support to the NCC staff.
- Provide support to members via telephone and email.
- Additional duties and projects may arise.
Qualifications:
- Must be reliable, detail-oriented and well organized.
- Should have a high level of competence in computer and Internet technology, and able to update our website by learning and using our web Content Management System (CMS), maintain databases and email lists, compose and send e-newsletters, and moderate our Online Community Network.
- HTML experience preferred
- Must have an entrepreneurial spirit; ready and able to move fast, be very task and accomplishment oriented, change priorities as required, and be versatile and flexible.
- Must have excellent communications (verbal, written, and presentation) skills, as well as organizational and coordination skills.
- Must be able to effectively interface with Chapter members, Board, and USGBC national staff on the phone, email and in person, and have a strong commitment to customer service.
Compensation: This is a position ideally suited to an undergraduate student or a recent college graduate. Occasional evenings will be required as needed. Modest weekly stipend and public transportation compensation included.

Location: Company headquarters in downtown San Francisco, within two blocks of BART and directly across from the weekly Farmer's Market at Crocker Galleria.
Hours: Negotiable
