Position Overview:
The Inside Solar Technician assists the sales department and representative network in North America, by providing technical solar support and by assisting with the design of solar systems.
Responsibilities:
You will have a wide range of tasks, the most important ones being:
- Be the initial point of contact for technical support to the Viessmann solar network.
- Provide verbal and written technical sales support and information for Viessmann solar products to the sales network and to inquiries from the field including consulting engineers and end users
- Using software to prepare thermal performance analyses, reports, quotations and equipment lists for review by the Solar Manager; review new projects for technical correctness
- Reproduce and create system design drawings using AutoCAD for review by the Solar Manager and include technical information
- Assist Inside Sales Representatives with any technical or product application issues in regards to residential and commercial solar projects
- Extraordinary and additional tasks as may be required during the course of the business year
Qualifications:
- Technical degree in related field; engineering associate or bachelor degree is an asset
- Experience in the solar thermal industry and with installation of company product line an asset
- HVAC, boiler, plumbing, hydronic heating or solar thermal technicians with the ability to draw using CAD and to communicate proficiently may also be considered
- Experience with TSol or similar thermal performance analysis software; TRNSYS experience a plus
- Experience with 2D CAD drafting using industry standard norms; experience with AutoCAD 14 or higher, and/or 3D rendering a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of conventional office software including MS Word, Excel, and/or Adobe is a plus
- Interpersonal skills must include a team approach to technical problem solving and taking direction from senior team members
- Aware of proper conduct and responsibility towards customers and co-workers
