Index Research Analyst

Founded in 1988, KLD Research & Analytics, Inc. is an independent investment research firm providing institutional investors with social and sustainability investment research, compliance services, consulting services, and indexes.

More than 400 clients worldwide use KLD products and services to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into their investment decisions. KLD's clients are institutional investors and money managers.

KLD Indexes is a unit of KLD Research & Analytics. KLD's 14 domestic and global indexes are accepted as benchmarks for investment strategies that integrate ESG factors. Investment managers license KLD's indexes to create exchange traded funds, mutual funds, unit investment trusts, structured products, commingled accounts and separately managed accounts for institutional and retail investors.

In 1990, KLD launched the Domini 400 Social Index - the first socially responsible investment index. Today, more than $11 billion is invested in funds based on KLD indexes.

Position Summary   

The Index Research Analyst will work closely with the Index Manager on research projects to support the maintenance of KLD's indexes. In this role, the Analyst will conduct original research; compile reports based on existing research and data; coordinate projects involving other analysts; and provide administrative support to the Index Manager.

Responsibilities

• Conducts research for index decisions about companies, including issue backgrounders; pending or past corporate actions; and review of ratings to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Assists in preparing analysis of companies for presentation to index committees.
• Works with research department to implement for new ratings generated by index department.
• Conducts support research for press, client and prospect inquiries.
• Communicates with companies about their status on indexes.
• Maintains and updates KLD's Proxy Voting Guidelines.
• Other projects, as needed.  

Qualifications  

Strong research, analytical and database expertise. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail. The applicant should be a self-starter, able to manage multiple tasks and work independently. Experience in SRI research and familiarity with KLD products and indexes a plus. One- three years related experience and BA required.
