Human Resources and Accounting Manager

The mission of Active Transportation Alliance is to make bicycling, walking and public transit so safe, convenient and fun that we will achieve a significant shift from environmentally harmful, sedentary travel to clean, active travel.

Position Overview:

The Human Resources & Accounting Manager position is responsible for human resources and limited accounting functions for a $3,000,000 Not for Profit organization. This is a full time position reporting to the Finance Director.

Responsibilities:

• Administer organizational human resources program, and respond to employee requests in a professional manner
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations relative to human resources
• Maintain an employee hand book and job descriptions
• Coordinate all new-hire paperwork and benefits administration
• Maintain all employee files
• Process payroll and record payroll in accounting ledger
• Track employee timesheets and benefits data
• Perform various accounting tasks, such as quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
• Review and proof read invoices for various clients in the private and public sector
• Prepare organizational records for annual audit
• Participate in Active Trans obligatory organizational events and activities

Qualifications:

Qualifying Experience:

• At least 2 years' bookkeeping experience
• Superior business writing, grammar, editing, and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Ability to work independently
• Strong multitasking, analytical and research skills
• Excellent knowledge of Quickbooks, Excel and Microsoft Word
• A passion for the transformational nature of bicycling, walking and transit on community livability and sustainability
• A commitment to Active Transportation Alliance mission, vision and goals

Preferred Experience:

• Accounting or CPA accreditation
• Previous experience with basic human resources functions
