Green Knowledge Database (GKDB) Engineer will be responsible for creating the GKDB, which is Plan-it Hardware's Green Knowledge Database Management System. It will be an online, web-based database which will provide for storage, simple forms-based data entry, searches and reports for all our green knowledge and will drive our marketing and sales oriented websites as well as other networks applications, such as sales PDA's and kiosks. Data entry / transfer work will be required as a part of the process of converting all our current files from Filemaker, Microsoft Word and Excel as well as other standard formats.
The ideal candidate will be committed to helping to green the hardware industry and promote green information technologies. Familiarity with green issues, especially those relating to freedom of information and sustainable development are a must. Participation in the open source community and experience with greening business information systems is preferred. Necessary skills include proficiency with the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl/Python) stack and the Joomla! Content Management System (CMS). Experience with database management systems, including development and management is helpful.
This position is supervised by the Knowledge Manager and progress assessments will be conducted on a weekly basis.
Independent Contractor - 1099 Full Time, Temporary - 40hrs /wk flex (Sunday - Saturday) - $12/ hr The target for project completion is 3 - 6 months and / or as work is needed Telecommuting (communication via email required and instant messaging desirable)
