Position Overview:
The Green IT Analyst will support Green IT efforts for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM). A solid understanding of DOE EM Headquarters and Field Sites is a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will perform the following types of activities:
- Compliance with Federal and Departmental policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Collaborating with multiple field site locations to identify areas of improvement pertaining to the IT infrastructure.
- Assisting and tracking participation in the Federal Electronic Challenge by providing support and guidance when requested.
- Tracking power reduction efforts by measuring site power saving from virtualization efforts, replacement of legacy equipment, using alternate energy sources, and unique energy- saving efforts.
- Keeping an updated inventory and tracking the ratio of physical verses virtual equipment.
- Keeping up to date on Federal and Departmental Green IT-related working groups, including summaries of meetings attended.
- Tracking progress and compliance with end-of -life IT equipment disposal.
- Researching and proposing solutions for cost effective Green IT initiatives (including Cloud Computing, virtualization technology, cutting-edge cooling techniques, and other initiatives).
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's and Master's degrees or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years IT/technical experience is required, to include 5 or more years of progressive Green IT experience with Federal Government projects. A solid understanding of DOE EM Headquarters and Field Sites is a requirement for this position. Demonstrated understanding of task/project management is desirable.
Skills:
The position requires a demonstrated capacity to analyze and recommend green technology solutions. Superior technical, writing, and presentation skills are required. Requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to multitask, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Clearance Requirements:
Candidate may be subject to a security investigation and will need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be clearable to Top Secret (TS)/DOE Q. Prefer active DOE Q Security Clearance.
