The Center for EcoTechnology works with small to medium-sized businesses who want to green their operations through a variety of measures including energy conservation /efficiency, recycling and composting. 

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for managing various aspects of our Green Business consulting service which provides recycling, composting and energy efficiency technical assistance to a diverse set of customers state-wide and beyond.  This is a new position created to help achieve aggressive growth goals. 

Using consulting management and green business experience this position is responsible for day-to-day operations including supervising Green Business Specialists, successfully meeting all deliverables, and working within program and department budgets. The position reports to the Director of Green Business and is based in the Florence office.

Responsibilities: 

Position responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Supervision:

  • Responsible for selecting potential new staff within the department and replacing staff as needed
  • Ensure all staff members are properly trained, equipped, and supported to complete their job responsibilities
  • Strategize with Green Business Specialists on client interactions and project progress
  • Provide technical assistance or support when needed to Green Business Specialists or directly to business clients
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment for the Green Business department
  • Manage Green Business Specialists and ensure performance expectations are met through annual reviews and ongoing feedback

Operations and Contract Management:

  • Responsible for all contacted services and managing staff and resources to successfully complete deliverables on time and on budget for each individual project and for the department as a whole.
  • Understand the full scope of work for all programs and deliverables.
  • Manage and review data submitted as a result of field staff activities.  Compile, edit and write various required reports in a professional, concise style.
  • Propose and implement changes to the Green Business department that will improve the effectiveness of sales and technical assistance provided

Business Development:

  • Work with the Director of Green Business to develop relationships with key partners and customers including business and community leaders as well as state agencies
  • Provide guidance and support to field staff and/or sales staff in identifying and closing on cross selling and up selling opportunities
  • Work with Green Information Assistant Manager to develop outreach and marketing strategies (web, press releases, materials, electronic) as well as to coordinate data collection and reporting.
  • Participate in proposal writing to obtain future opportunities
  • Represent the organization and depart in business groups and at community events

Qualifications: 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • College degree in related field
  • Minimum 2 years consulting, project management and supervisory experience
  • Minimum 2 years sales, recycling/composting and energy efficiency experience
  • Minimum 1 year commercial energy efficiency work preferred

Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position with benefits located in our Northampton office.  Statewide travel, evening and weekend work may be needed.  The Center for EcoTechnology offers competitive pay rates and a comprehensive health plan which pays approximately 60% of the individual's health insurance costs.  New employees are eligible for dental insurance; accrue 10 days of paid vacation leave per year, 9 sick days and 12 paid holidays.
