Position Overview

CallisonRTKL seeks a Green Building Specialist for the Los Angeles office, this position will provide expertise on sustainable design, green building rating systems, green building codes, and energy codes. The Green Building Specialist oversees administration of green building rating systems throughout the firm and assists CallisonRTKL’ s Performance Driven Design team in achieving firmwide sustainability goals. The Green Building Specialist directly coordinates accreditation and participates in the design, implementation and evaluation of high-performance strategies in multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide green building certification administration of multiple projects in all our offices.
  • Support project teams with green building certification and green building code technical expertise early in project including checklists and internal/external project meetings.
  • As one of the firm’s LEED experts, provides advice, assistance and critique to project teams. Other certifications may include WELL, Fitwell, Living Building Challenge, and others.
  • Assist project managers and marketing personnel in proposal writing and fee estimates including LEED services.
  • Assist teams with questions pertaining to green building rating systems, especially regarding LEED and LEED documentation.
  • Manage LEED educational opportunities.
  • Work closely with other members of the sustainable design team to develop and achieve firmwide sustainability goals.
  • Participate in LEED team meetings, eco-charrettes and project brainstorming and goal setting sessions.
  • Conduct educational sessions regarding currents issues and trends in sustainable design including accreditation systems and their effect on our practice.
  • Assist firm resource librarian with maintaining current information related to building materials, fixtures, and equipment related to material health and transparency.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Science, or a related field
  • LEED BD+C or LEED ID+C accreditation required. Multiple LEED accreditations preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a LEED accredited professional on projects including LEED V4 projects.
  • Able to prioritize and concurrently work on multiple projects worldwide.
  • Able to interact with external consultants.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members.
  • Familiarity with diverse state and municipal green building and energy codes.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Indesign, Rhinoceros.
  • Knowledge of Sketchup, Autocad, and Revit preferred.
  • Building simulation experience preferred, including the use of the grasshopper building simulation suite and IESve, Diva, Sefaira.
  • Technical proficiency in green building strategies and experience in other rating systems such as WELL, BREEAM, and Estidama preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Building Science.
  • Significant involvement in diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as health and wellness initiatives.
