Position Overview:
The SUMMER intern will work within the City of Palo Alto Green Building Program assisting with program implementation, outreach, review, enforcement and measurement. The goal of the program is to provide the City with a new generation of efficient, environmentally responsible and healthy buildings.
Responsibilities:
The intern's assignments will vary based on their strengths and interests, but may include assisting with implementation of the City's recent adoption of the California Green Building Code, CALGreen, and new performance requirements for existing buildings. The intern will likely assist with establishing and tracking performance indicators including energy, water, construction and demolition debris, and resource savings to inform public policy. In addition, assist with tracking state and national green building legislation, standards, incentives and rebates programs. There will also likely be opportunity to gain exposure in collaborative sustainability efforts across city departments and neighboring cities.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate with course work in a field relating to urban planning, building sciences, engineering or architecture, and/or who has a strong interest in environmental/sustainability issues.
