SD Keppler and Associates, LLC, located in Rockville, MD, is looking for team-oriented people who work well with minimal supervision in a small office environment. Strong professional skills and a positive/flexible attitude are essential.
Responsibilities:
Position tasks and responsibilities include:
- The application, assessment, verification, technical support, and site work related to the influencing the specification and implementation of water efficiency, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and building automation control systems into the design of LEED projects, (all in the context of the MEP related LEED rating system criteria that support projects with LEED NC, CS, and EB certification goals).
- Support the SDK senior commissioning (Cx) authority in the execution of consulting services including tasks related to meeting LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Cx requirements under the various LEED rating systems.
- Conduct and support the execution and delivery of ASHRAE Level I and Level II energy audits on existing buildings supporting the successful completion of LEED EB projects currently under contract at SDK.
Qualifications:
While the position entails interaction with designers and/or facility managers, it is not a design or construction management position. The right candidate will be able to do LEED MEP related design reviews, perform MEP related LEED calculations, perform MEP related Cx site inspections, as well as execute energy analysis and commissioning tasks.
The ability to manage relationships with design engineers, mechanical contractors, and facility engineers is vital to success. The ideal candidate should also be knowledgeable of construction practices related to mechanical controls and plumbing systems in new and existing commercial/institutional building.
Applicants should have a complementary mix of the following qualifications:
- 3 to 10 years technical work experience
- Background in detailed technical project work in commercial and institutional buildings is required
- Experience with quantitative energy and water use analysis, EnergyStar Portfolio Manager web based program, and/or knowledge experience with building energy modeling process and energy analysis
- Ability to read, understand, and navigate a set of MEP building plans and specifications.
- Working knowledge AND demonstrated experience in building design and/or construction
- Direct and demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems/controls, energy conservation, indoor air quality and ventilation systems
- Working knowledge AND experience in building design and/or construction, or technical energy/environmental project management experience
- Existing facilities, technical energy/environmental, project management experience
- Novice to intermediate level experience or knowledge of the LEED Green Building Rating Systems
- A strong ability to absorb technical details and established processes to contribute to a technical team and the overall program
- Excellent Excel and web skills
- Experience managing multiple, complex projects/tasks
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
- Experience in writing/executing Cx functional performance test procedures
