Ecology Project International was founded as an independent non-profit organization under IRS tax code 501(c)(3) in October 2001. Founders Scott Pankratz and Julie Osborn share a passion for innovation and impact. EPI started as an idea that Scott had to empower and inspire nearby residents through scientific partnerships.
Position Overview:
The Grants and Outreach Coordinator (GOC) is responsible for coordinating and writing grants in support of EPI programs, creating effective donor materials, and outreaching to media to support philanthropic giving. The GOC works collaboratively with the Advancement Director to expand EPI's foundation support and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Implement a robust grant writing program, including foundation prospect identification, research, initial inquiries, proposal writing, reporting and renewals
- Work closely with Program leaders to determine funding needs, outline how funds are to be used, report on expenditures and evaluate results
- Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and evaluation of Montana program field staff.
- Engage staff and volunteers as appropriate to expand and strengthen foundation support
- Collaborate with the Development team in fundraising planning and evaluation; ensuring overlap and integration of various strategies
- Write press releases and outreach to media to support individual and foundation giving
- Create effective donor materials to communicate with new and existing donors
- Plan and implement community friend-raisers
- Oversee any special projects assigned by the Advancement Director and designated as high priority
- Maintain good humor and apply professional, common-sense solutions to everyday challenges.
Accountability: The Grants and Outreach Coordinator (GOC) is responsible to the Advancement Director.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in grantwriting
- Proven organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and project management with self discipline to follow up and follow through
- Ability to assemble and submit grants according to requirements and deadlines
- Ability to motivate and inspire others by commitment to mission and enthusiasm for asking for money
- Ability to work independently; self directed with lots of initiative
- High energy, confident, with professional demeanor
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Schedule: 25-40 hours/week, based in our Montana office.
Compensation: $11-15/hr depending on experience.
