NESsT is an international nonprofit organization that develops sustainable social enterprises that solve critical social problems in emerging market economies.
Position Overview:
NESsT is looking for a Grant Writer to provide support to NESsT senior management and staff to research and develop funding proposals and reports for a broad audience of donors, including foundations, corporations, individuals, non-profit organizations, and government.
This full-time position will be based in San Francisco, California. The position reports to the Investor Relations Manager. Fluency - written and spoken - in English and Spanish is required.
Responsibilities:
- Researching, identifying, developing, and responding to public and private grant opportunities (calls for tender, guidelines for proposals, funding trends, etc.) in Latin America and Central & Eastern Europe.
- Researching sector-specific issues in Latin America and Central & Eastern Europe.
- Preparing proposals and grant applications.
- Coordinating proposal budgets with NESsT country staff and Finance team.
- Managing reporting timeline and deliverables; working with staff to obtain relevant program information for external reporting and coordinating, writing, editing, and translating donor reports.
- Update Salesforce database with new proposals submitted.
- Support the Operations team on preparing specific grant proposals for supporting capacity-building initiatives at NESsT focused on internal organizational development, human resources, and training needs.
- Other related research, writing and editing tasks, as needed.
- Providing summarized information to NESsT senior management and program staff to inform fundraising strategy and decisions.
Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent relevant work experience (minimum 3 years - experience working in emerging market countries is a plus); previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (language skills will be tested).
- Impeccable English and Spanish writing skills; academic editing and grant writing experience.
- Very strong capacity to conduct research and organize information; proficient in researching, interpreting and analyzing diverse data.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail; ability to effectively work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and produce high quality work within tight time constraints.
- Excellent communication skills and computer skills including knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of international nonprofit environment and passion for social change issues.
- Ability to be flexible, resourceful and innovative in a small, dynamic, nonprofit environment.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Experience working from a virtual office preferred.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
- NESsT will not relocate candidates, therefore San Francisco Bay Area residents preferred.
Compensation: Salary in USD. Competitive nonprofit salary based on experience and salary history.
