The Tides Center, which provides core management and financial services to innovative nonprofit programs, has an excellent opportunity for a Government Grants and Contracts Supervisor. For 25 years, the Tides Center has been strengthening the roots of the social change movement by partnering quality management services with nonprofit social change organizations. The Center offers its projects the legal infrastructure of a 501(c)(3) entity, complete financial services, comprehensive employee benefits, innovative administrative support, and expert human resources services. Today, the Center is home to 350 nonprofit projects located throughout the United States, employs approximately 600 staff members and administers $50 million dollars in financial activity.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
*Responsible for direct support and assistance to the Pre-Award Grants & Contracts Analyst in the successful delivery of government grants and contracts in accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
*Supervises and directs the clerical and administrative duties of a staff accountant (billing specialist) to ensure that all invoice billing and reports are delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
*Develops monitoring tools of the critical areas of government grants for managerial review.
*Contributes actively in planning and meeting the grants year-end processing and audit preparation goals of the Finance Component.
*Responsible for the integrity of all government grants and contracts reporting
*Responsible for the coordination and training of finance specialists in assisting projects with budget development.
*Responsible for maintaining the budgets of the foundation and government grants as well as contracts in our accounting database (Blackbaud).
*May be asked to perform other duties of a similar nature or level of responsibility.
Minimum Desired Qualifications:
*Prefer at least 5 years of work experience with non-profit institutions, governmental agencies, or institutions of higher learning.
*Requires 1 to 3 years of previous supervisory experience in a directly related position within a non-profit environment.
*Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local municipality financial assistance requirements, in particular OMB Circular A-110, A-133, and A-122.
*Must be familiar with government grants and contracts terminology.
*Must have experience in budget development, line item review, and project financial analyses.
*Must have the ability to write and develop financial procedures.
*Must have excellent knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
*Demonstrated ability in grant proposal writing is a plus.
*Must possess proven leadership and team building skills.
*Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
*Must be adept with Microsoft Office.
*Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
