Position Overview:
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol at the World Resources Institute is looking for a highly motivated person to help in the development of new guidelines for supply chain and product life cycle greenhouse gas accounting. The Intern will support the GHG Protocol team in the development and implementation of these guidelines. Additional tasks may include assisting with other projects related to corporate greenhouse gas accounting.
The GHG Protocol is the most widely used international accounting tool for government and business leaders to understand, quantify, and manage greenhouse gas emissions. The GHG Protocol, a decade-long partnership between the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, is working with businesses, governments, and environmental groups around the world to build a new generation of credible and effective programs for tackling climate change.
Responsibilities:
- Research existing standards, technical resources, and business case studies
- Assist in the planning and coordination of multi-stakeholder engagement in standard development process, including frequent communication with a wide range of stakeholders through e-mail, webinars, and meetings
- Maintain contact database by adding and updating entries (500+ contacts)
- Assist in the coordination of document review processes including compiling and synthesizing comments from a wide range of stakeholders
- Assist in the facilitation of technical working group meetings by convening meetings and conference calls, preparing meeting agendas, preparing meeting summaries, etc.
- Assist in fundraising activities including preparing funding proposals
- Assist in organizing workshops
- Assist with day-to-day project management tasks, such as coordinating team meetings and conference calls
- Maintain the Supply Chain Initiative web-based communications portal that facilitates on-line information sharing
Qualifications:
- Preferably an equivalent of 1 years of professional work experience related to climate change, energy, and/or life cycle assessment
- Preferably a Bachelors degree in a relevant field
- Strong interest in GHG accounting, life cycle assessment and/or corporate supply chains
- Excellent research, writing, organization, and communications skills
- Attention to detail and high level of organization
- Interest in and knowledge of climate change and energy issues
- Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to self-motivate, stay organized, and work both independently and as part of a team
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits are not provided with intern positions.
