Description
The World Conservation Union (IUCN), Conservation Finance and Donor Relations Group, has an immediate opening for a Fundraising & Development Officer.
This position is part of IUCN's global fundraising team with a focus on United States donors. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing an engagement Strategy for private sources of funding, in particular charitable foundations, trusts and the private sector.
Reports to: Executive Director, IUCN USA Multilateral Office and Head, and the Conservation Finance and Donor Relations, IUCN Headquaarters.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Identifying potential funders, developing and implementing strategies, and maintaining donor relationships to raise funds in the United States. This will include research, proposal and report writing, managing fundraising calendar, database management, and coordinating within the organization.
- Monitoring trends in fundraising and philanthropy in the United States.
- Maintaining a US donor database in close coordination with HQ and IUCN offices worldwide.
- Supporting general fundraising efforts of IUCN, including from US Government Agencies and US-based multilateral institutions.
Qualifications:
- A proven track record in fundraising with ten years' minimum experience, goal oriented, attentive to detail and capable of multi-tasking.
- Excellent inter-personal and team-building skills in a multicultural environment.
- An advanced degree in economics, international relations, business administration, marketing or a closely related field with experience in the environment and development field and/or natural resource management.
- A thorough understanding of the philanthropic sector in the United States.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Fluent in English and preferably conversant in Spanish.
