Duties:
Sarasota County is seeking a Forestry Manager for its Forestry Section of the Public Works Business Center. Under the direction of the Operations General Manager, this position is responsible for the planning, directing, and administering all activities of the Forestry Operations Unit.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Forestry or related field, and four years of experience in urban forestry management, parks planning, greenspace management, open lands management, urban ecosystems functions, or public vegetation programs, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
An Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in forestry or a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create and maintain effective working relationships;
- Experience in developing and administering educational, public relations or volunteer programs;
- Knowledge of all aspects of urban/classical forestry, tree species, both native and exotic, ecosystem functions and experience in administering an urban forestry program.
- Experience in developing and implementing municipal tree ordinances.
Compensation: Negotiable salary DOQ with an outstanding benefits package.
