Description

Want to make a difference in forest stewardship? Southwest Oregon Resource Conservation & Development Council is now seeking applicants to work on forest stewardship projects.

The successful applicant will be involved in several projects that address different aspects of forest health in beautiful Southern Oregon. Projects will involve promoting and planning for fuels reduction and small diameter thinning on private and public lands, and economic analysis of forest stewardship methods.

The volunteer must have strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills. An understanding and respect for conservative rural values is essential. Interest or experience in forestry, natural resources or biology is desired.

The successful applicant will be part of the National AmeriCorps program sponsored in Oregon by the Northwest Service Academy. AmeriCorps provides a modest stipend to help cover some living expenses and an educational award which can be used to pay student loans or future educational costs.
