Position Overview

Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), is seeking a skilled professional with fisheries biology and Geographic Information System expertise.

The position will be based at WPC's Juniata and Potomac Region office in Hollidaysburg, PA and will report to the Director of Aquatic Science. This is a full-time, contract funded position, with funding through December 2020.


  • The Fisheries Biologist will assist with data management, data entry and data reporting in accordance with PFBC protocols.
  • The fisheries biologist will also conduct field investigations and other studies to document the biological, chemical, and physical attributes of Pennsylvania's unassessed waters.


  • Candidates must have a 4-year degree related to fisheries biology, aquatic ecology, fisheries management or a related field.
  • Good communication skills via phone and also in person are required.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems and the ability to use various fish sampling gear are needed.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
