DRC is a nonprofit, grassroots activist organization. The mission of DRC is to form enduring, democratic local groups that empower people to influence decision-making processes that affect their lives.
DRC is working for preservation of family farms, enforcement of corporate farming laws, soil and water conservation, regulation of coal mining and oil and gas development, protection of groundwater and clean air, renewable energy, and sound management of solid and toxic wastes.
DRC has been featured by national media, such as Rachel Maddow, as the group fighting for responsible, sustainable energy development.
Position Overview
Work on the front lines of the Bakken oil boom. Dakota Resource Council, North Dakota's only home-grown, independent grassroots organization, is hiring two full-time field organizers in western North Dakota. Both positions are based in Bismarck with travel around western North Dakota. Office is a block from the Missouri River in a growing region with lots of recreation activities.
The job is organizing where the action is on cutting edge, world-impacting energy and community-building issues. DRC has been featured by national media, such as Rachel Maddow, as the group fighting for responsible, sustainable energy development.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Working with people to address issues with sound and successful organizing efforts;
- Maximizing the power and participation of members;
- Empowering people to speak for themselves;
- Fundraising; and
- Organizers will work with DRC members on issues related to impacts on people's lives and livelihoods from oil and gas development in the Bakken oil fields.
Compensation: Salary based on experience, with generous benefits.
