Applied Proactive Technologies promotes energy efficiency/ retailer outreach programs for electric utility companies throughout the United States. We are a company of about 180 full time associates based in Springfield, MA. One of our missions is to help the environment and reduce the effects of global climate change. We use electric utility funding/sponsorship to create incentive programs that increase the awareness and adoption of products that use less electricity and, consequently, reduce emissions.

Many of our programs use the National EPA/DOE ENERGY STAR products platform for our multi-faceted outreach campaigns. In order to successfully implement such a meaningful and important endeavor, we require individuals who are capable of making a strong value proposition to Showroom and Distributor partners.

Position Overview:

The Field Account Manager provides service and maintains a positive working relationship with participating lighting Showrooms and Distributors. The goal is to provide partners with hands on service in order to increase sales of energy efficient products on behalf of our utility clients through execution, education and promotion.

The Program provides utility funded incentives to Puget Sound area lighting Showrooms and Distributors to encourage the sale of ENERGY STAR qualified light fixtures into the residential new construction market. The Field Account Manager is responsible for all aspects of promoting the program through outreach and coordination with participating Showrooms, Distributors, Builders, Electrical Contractors, Manufacturers, and other market actors in the new construction lighting supply chain. Program implementation is conducted in person and requires daily travel throughout the Puget Sound region to participating dealers and new construction sites. 

The Field Account Manager works closely with the APT Program Manager, Data Processing Coordinator and client to ensure the enthusiastic participation of Showrooms by developing relationships and providing training that fosters a clear understanding of Program policies, protocol and criteria. The successful candidate must have the ability to develop relationships and interact effectively with a very diverse range of lighting showroom, home builder and electrical contractor industry representatives.  

In the role as the Program Field Account Manager, the first responsibility is to ensure that APT's image and reputation is maintained and even enhanced in the perception of the participating utilities. This is to be accomplished through meeting all of their goals and objectives. The overall responsibilities include but are not limited to representing both APT and its clients in a professional and responsible manner, conducting outreach activities cost effectively and efficiently, ensuring the enthusiastic participation of dealers and distributors, maintaining detailed records, working within a team environment and adhering to APT and utility protocols, procedures and policies.

Responsibilities: 

  • Solicit all eligible showrooms, distributors, builders and enroll them into the program.
  • Provide ongoing program trainings and updates
  • Coordinate & participate in builder and contractor meetings
  • New construction lighting plan assessment
  • Physical audit and documentation of installs
  • Monitor data submissions and coordinate with data processing team
  • Program compliance follow up with builders and electrical contractors
  • Correctly fill out electronic site call reports and time sheet system on a daily basis
  • Efficiently type into payroll system a detailed dialogue summary of each store visit.
  • Work with local, regional, and national programs to gain recognition and increase participation.
  • Work with utility personnel to assist customers in participating in the program.
  • Provide services within the parameters of the terms and conditions of the contract with the client.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and/or conference calls.
  • Call the office daily for check-ins.
  • Learn about the industry and attend all company training events.
  • Make recommendations that can enhance our delivery of services.
  • Ensure that all services are performed with the greatest level of expediency and efficiency as possible.
  • Maintain a residence within service territory. (Greater metro Seattle / Bellevue area)
  • Work safely so as to provide safety to yourself, your clients and to the public 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will meet most of the following specific qualifications or demonstrate a comparable background and skills:

  • Candidates must be enthusiastic, and possess excellent oral/written skills.
  • Background in outside sales, knowledge of showroom lighting or building industry is a plus.
  • Most of work-week will be on the road.
  • Must have reliable/safe transportation.
  • Candidates must have and maintain a permanent residence in or around the targeted service area.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook.
  • Possess knowledge of lighting products.
  • Have energy conservation experience and/or a passion for energy conservation
  • Experience driving for most of their workday.
  • Must possess good writing/typing skills.
  • Have experience in public speaking and/or training groups of up to 20 people.
  • Charismatic, friendly personality
  • Must have and maintain an excellent driving record
