The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) is a collaborative network whose purpose is to advance energy efficiency in the Midwest in order to support sustainable economic development and environmental preservation. Our goal is to provide a collective voice at a national and regional level; act as a clearinghouse to identify, evaluate and create successful programs and market assessments for the region; and foster communication on effective energy policy.
MEEA currently has an operations budget of over $3M and a staff of 22 employees.
Position Overview:
MEEA is seeking an Executive Director to be located in its Chicago, IL office. The Executive Director will serve to implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization; with the Board Chair, enable the Board to fulfill its governance function; and to give direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization's philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Assuring that the organization and its mission, programs, policies, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders;
- Ensuring that MEEA as a membership-based organization, provides a value to member organizations and leads in cultivating new members and retaining existing ones;
- Overseeing the design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, initiatives, products and services;
- Developing and recommending an annual budget for Board approval and prudently managing the organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations;
- Leading the planning and implementation process, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation;
- Effectively managing the staff of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations;
- Overseeing a transition to new office space; and
- Supporting operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members, Board Committees, and interfacing between Board and staff.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have significant experience working on energy efficiency issues whether of a programmatic or policy nature. The successful candidate should have broad knowledge of energy efficiency policies, programs and technologies, excellent communications, organization and networking skills, and ability to manage a large and growing organization and have experience in a not-for-profit setting. At least 15 years of experience is preferred, Masters degree a plus.
Compensation: The compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience.
