The Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) is a nonprofit standards organization that certifies and rates performance of solar (thermal) energy products.  Additional information may be found here. The SRCC offices are located in Cocoa, Florida.  The Executive Director location is flexible.

Position Overview:

The Executive Director is required to comprehensively, effectively, and efficiently manage SRCC's certification programs and activities with a high level of professionalism.  The Executive Director serves as an independent contractor and reports directly to the Chairman of the Board and the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director is required to work full-time on SRCC activities, and can have no other commitments which conflict, compete, or otherwise limit the ability to complete all duties of the position.

Responsibilities:

Essential functions and responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

  • Develop and administer strategic action plans, financial plans, and budgets
  • Conduct fundraising and manage grant contracts
  • Coordinate and secure required staffing and competencies
  • Develop and administer services RFPs and contracts
  • Oversee all certification operations
  • Develop and oversee implementation of quality assurance measures
  • Develop, maintain, and administer policies, procedures, and bylaws
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with industry; federal, state, and local government agencies and legislators; other standards and certification bodies; and other stakeholders
  • Respond to the Chair, Executive Committee, and full Board of Directors
  • Coordinate marketing and educational activities
  • Promote SRCC products and their adoption
  • Coordinate Board meetings and committee activities
  • Coordinate management of corporate records
  • Provide regular detailed reports to the Board

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess:

  • Proven track record of strategic organizational development and management
  • Ability to dedicate full-time to the organization's needs and the position's responsibilities
  • Ability to track, report, and responsibly manage organizational finances
  • High degree of initiative and ability to function effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp scopes of work and function accordingly
  • Ability to effectively build relationships and work collaboratively & diplomatically with individuals, committees, constituencies, attorneys, and other organizations
  • Ability to diplomatically respond to inquiries, complaints, and appeals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (listen & hear others, express ideas clearly)
  • Openness and receptivity to all ideas and creative thinking
  • Positive "can-do" attitude with courage to embark on initiatives outside of known capabilities
  • Effective public speaking ability
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Mastery of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), and internet email and the World Wide Web

Preference will be given to individuals who have:

  • Proven management and leadership background with experience administering strategic and financial plans, either in a corporate or nonprofit environment
  • Background in solar energy with understanding of the solar thermal industry and technologies
  • Familiarity with solar (thermal) rating and certification procedures
  • Similar experience with another association
  • Availability and ability to make both an immediate and long-term commitment to the organization

License, Certificates, or Registrations:

Candidates must have a valid driver's license, own a licensed and registered vehicle and be willing to use it on occasion for work-related travel.
