The Oregon Solar Energy Industries Association (OSEIA) is seeking an energetic person with substantial organizing and management experience. This is a hands-on, full-time position, involving a high degree of independent project development, setting and implementing strategic initiatives, and office management responsibilities.
OSEIA is a trade organization for solar energy businesses with a solid track record in: successfully advocating for solar energy interests to the state legislature and government agencies, managing grants, and managing the NW Solar Expo. New leadership is needed to build on these successes and to continue effective advocacy for the solar industry.
In addition to general membership, advocacy, and outreach efforts, OSEIA manages two main projects: (1) NW Solar Expo (April 16-20, 2008); (2) Professional training grants.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Manage NW Solar Expo (April 16-20, 2008, www.nwsolarexpo.com)
- Manage existing grants and work to acquire new grants
- Coordinate with industry to develop and implement legislative priorities
- Represent OSEIA interests to government agencies and utility solar programs
- Regularly participate in public speaking events
- Coordinate general membership and board level meetings
- Manage the financial and organizational needs of an industry non-profit
A successful candidate will have:
- Strong oral and written communication skills and proven ability to network
- The ability to effectively speak at hearings, meetings, events, conferences
- Knowledge and ability to manage grants and events such as the NW Solar Expo
- Knowledge of legislative processes
- Prior experience running a non-profit or small business
- Very good computer skills
Job duties require regular travel between Salem and Portland.
Salary commensurate with experience. Minimum salary $35k plus additional compensation based on grant income.
