Description

The primary responsibility of the Organic Center for Education and Promotion's Executive Director will be to:

  1. Provide leadership and vision to advance the mission of The Organic Center.
  2. Hire and manage staff and contractors.
  3. Develop and manage annual budget.
  4. Create an effective partnership with the Board of Directors to accomplish The Organic Center's strategic objectives and goals. .
  5. Serve as the spokesperson for The Organic Center.
  6. Integrate the Organic Center's work with Organic Trade Association (OTA) strategic plans with the goal to complement OTA and develop effective working relationship with the OTA as the 501(c) 6.

Terms:
The executive director will be hired on a contract basis for one year.
Salary range: DOE ($85,000-$120,000)
Bonus: Up to 25% of base salary Benefits: To be determined Evaluation and review at year-end to determine long-term contract.

Accountable to:
The Executive Director is directly responsible to The Center Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

Required skills:
Strategic planning and implementation skills and experience.
Organizational development skills to establish structure, policies and procedures.
Ability to provide day-to-day organization and coordination to accomplish goals. Skill with critical path methods to keep all activities on time and on budget.
Significant communication experience, media skills, diplomacy and political intuition to institute effective and wide-ranging communications with funders, stakeholders, the media and the public.
Ability to develop a positive and productive relationship with teams: board, stakeholders, contractors and OTA staff.
Persuasive skills and professionalism to solicit funds from high-profile sources.
Good multi-tasking skills to progress on several tasks simultaneously
Strong 'roll up sleeves', optimistic and can-do attitude.
Persistence, patience and practicality.
Excellent understanding of the principles of organic agriculture and production standards.
